Colin Liddell Retirement

01 July 2021

Colin Liddell

Former Senior Partner of J & H Mitchell WS, Colin Liddell, has retired as a solicitor at the end of June 2021, after dedicating 41 years of his life to the Firm and to the provision of legal services in Highland Perthshire.

Colin joined the practice in 1980, as the third generation of Liddells dating back to 1902 and, since then, has become synonymous with professional legal services in Pitlochry.  Whilst providing a wide range of high quality legal and business advice services to clients both locally and across the United Kingdom, his speciality is Charity Law, having been the very first lawyer in Scotland to be accredited by the Law Society as a Specialist in the discipline.  The legacy of that can still be seen within the firm’s busy Charity Law Department, now headed by fellow Accredited Specialist, Sarah Brown.

Colin stepped down as Senior Partner in 2019, having successfully overseen a significant transition in the Firm, following the retirement of long-term colleagues Lesley Gray and Duncan Thomson, and the assumption of the three current partners.  Since then, he has continued as a Consultant to the Firm, focussing primarily on charity clients.

Following such a long and illustrious career with J & H Mitchell WS, we have no doubt that Colin deserves an opportunity to relax, and to dedicate his time to pursuing his passions, such as hill-walking, local history and, of course, his grandchildren.  We wish him all the very best for a long and happy retirement.
