Pitlochry Highland Games

09 September 2013

Pitlochry Highland Games on Saturday 14th September is the last of the main Highland Games after a long and successful season.

With the usual mix of pipe bands (23 of them!), individual piping, highland dancing, track (running and cycling), field, tug o’ war and heavyweight events, as well as charity and other stalls, bouncy castle and the like, it is a fun day out for all the family.

We are keen supporters of Pitlochry Highland Games; we sponsor all the children’s races in both the morning and the afternoon; and we will be represented, as ever, by the main Games commentator, Colin Liddell, whilst others in the firm assist on the day too.

Update on Games Day 2013

Games Day was one of the most successful, featuring –

  •     one of the largest recorded crowds ever
  •     records in three of the Local Heavy events, all achieved by Lorne Colthart of Blair Atholl
  •     a much-publicised new caber being tossed successfully by five of the local heavyweight competitors
  •     records in four of the six field events
  •     fast times in all the handicap foot and cycle races, in near-perfect ground and air conditions
  •     a record number of 12 teams in the Perthshire Primary Schools’ Relay
  •     a record number of 10 teams in the Scottish Athletic Clubs Youths Relay Final
  •     a magnificent and resounding Massed Parade featuring 23 Pipe Bands

There was something for everyone!

We look forward to the next Highland Games Day at Pitlochry on Saturday 13 September 2014.
