Bearing in mind that it is recognised good practice for charities to implement a programme of training for their charity trustees (and that the Statement for Recommended Practice (SORP) 2015, for preparing Charity Accounts also requires charities above the audit threshold to report on policies and procedure adopted for the induction and training of trustees), we are pleased to offer the following two Training Seminars, in Spring 2016:-
1 – The Charity Trustees’ Toolkit – 7pm, Tuesday 22nd March 2016, Dunkeld
Our next regular trustee training and updating seminar for Charity Trustees will take place at Birnam Arts, Birnam Institute, Station Road, Birnam, Dunkeld PH8 0DS at 7pm on Tuesday 22nd March 2016. As always, Colin will cover a wide range of topical issues. The seminar will last about 90 minutes, with Q&A afterwards.
The café will be open for a buffet supper before the event, and we will be providing drinks afterwards, to give you an opportunity to chat with our seven solicitors at J. & H. Mitchell WS.
It is always case of ‘the more the merrier’ at Colin’s seminars, and we recommend that as many Trustees of your charity as possible attend the Seminar together, so that they can speak about it together afterwards, having all heard the seminar content.

2 – The Role of the Charity Chair – 6pm, Tuesday 12th April 2016, Perth
By popular request, Colin is delighted to provide this free seminar at the Sandeman Room, AK Bell Library, York Place, Perth PH2 8EP between 6pm – 7pm on Tuesday 12th April 2016. Designed for Chairs, Vice-Chairs (and those who aspire to or are in line to succeed to these roles), this one hour training seminar is in fact relevant also both to all Trustees (as it is important for Trustees to understand the Chair’s role and challenges) and to Executive Team members (to increase their understanding of the Chair’s role, and the vital two-way link between the Chair and Chief Executive).
